Rutgers at South Florida

I need a little action on Friday night so why not bet a meaningless game.

Rutgers is much improved this year jumping out to a 4-0 start. They are traveling to South Florida, where the Bulls have been upsetting teams in the Big East over the past few years.  I think this will be nip and tuck, but I like the Scarlet Knights to get the offense going to cover the spread.

I am just not a believer in the Chiefs. The Niners are not as good on the road, but they are an improved team.  This is closer to a battle of equals than the line shows.

The Bengals might have a let down after a big win. I can't remember the last time the Pats got this many points.

The Seahawks are up and down. This week they are on the road with no Alexander against a tough D. I love the Bears.

Dog Day Afternoon

We are at a time in the season where the lines have settled and shifted to the the early leaders. Look at the dogs.

Wyoming at Syracuse
Two great ATS teams this year - Syracuse is 4-0 ATS and Wyoming is 3-1. I rode Syracuse last week but I am not convinced they are a very good team. Wyoming is not elite either, but has played well against some good teams. I am going to take the points.

Alabama at Florida
Alabama is young. They lost a tough one last week. The swamp will be difficult, but I think they will be up and in the game.

Ohio St. at Iowa
The game of the week. It's hard to tell if Iowa is elite, but they look solid with an experienced QB. They are at home as well. I like the Hawkeyes in a close one.

Auburn at S. Carolina

Auburn has shown dominant defense once again this year, and there offense, while not great, has scored through a solid running game. S Carolina is tough to guage based on what they have done. Their defense is solid, but their offense is mixed.  The bottom line is that the Gamecocks have inferior talent. However, they are at home and have an atheltic defense. Go with the sharp money and play the total.

TMQB 3

I was happy to see the Saints win last night. They actually looked pretty solid. No mistakes, good defense and efficient on offense. They are a few players thin on talent, but they may be good enough to compete in that division. I guarantee you that no one would have predicted that they would be leading the NFC South after week 3.

Random Thoughts

-That Notre Dame come back was amazing.  Michigan St. choked it off.

-UCLA outplayed Washington much of the game, but couldn't win. That was tough. Isiah Stanbeck is a pretty solid QB.

-The Alabama kicker sucks, missed several FG's and extra points wide right, including the one in OT that lost them the game.

-I have a bad feeling that the Steelers might be in for a 500 season. That was the kind of game I remember from their 6-10 season, where they outplay the other team but find ways to lose with stupid mistakes.

-The Dolphins really do stink. I think Culpepper may be a step back from Frerotte.

-Same for the Texans, they have never been in any of their 3 games. Not even close.

-I am glad to see Kurt Warner go to the bench, that guy has the smallest hands in the NFL. He puts the ball on the ground several times a game.  I think Leinart is going to shine.

-Tony Kornheiser is simply terrible. He looks like a gnome, losing his hair, and he talks too much, overstating things emphatically.  He makes Theisman look understated.

-Jerry Rice was a great receiver, but he sucks as a broadcaster.  If you listen to Sirius NFL channel, you know what I mean. He has no specific knowledge about the current players or game, and just glad hands callers who are worshipping them.  I can't listen to him with Bob Pappa. It's terrible.

Return Home

Another rough Sunday. It started off with the Steelers handing the Bengals the game with two 4th quarter fumbles, then continued with betting losses from the Cards, Texans, and Dolphins, as well as a push from the Colts and a win from the Browns.  I rolled it all on Sunday night on the Broncos and got some back.

Falcons at Saints
Everybody will be watching the Saints return home to the Superdome and I think 99% of America will be rooting for them, me included.  However, I think the Falcons are a superior team and playing really well right now.  I am going to lay the points with the Birds and hope the Saints give them a really good game to show that they are back.

Jags at Colts
Maybe I am bitter.  I think the Jags are set for a hangover on the short week. It's hard to be that intense two weeks in a row.

The Titans are a mess. If you listen to the NFL channel, you here Kyle Van Den Bosch express his concerns. Then Jeff Fisher says his QB lied to him.  I think they are really doubting themselves right now.  I look for the Dolphins to finally show what they can do.

Ravens at Browns
The Ravens have certainly stepped up this year.  However, I sense a little too much enthusiasm.  The Browns are due to play a good game here at home. A touchdown is too much.

The Redskins looked awful last week. I am weary of them laying points on the road.  The Texans aren't the Cowboys, but they are improved. Take the home points.

The Cardinals finally have the linemen they want back upfront.  They are at home and have pent up anger from last week. I see the offensive machine cranking up here.

Thinning Ranks

This week looks a little thin to me in college, especially compared to last weeks separation Saturday. I see a few interesting games.

Miami, OH at Syracuse
Syracuse has proven they can play some ball this year, hanging in with Iowa and winning on the road at Illinois. Miami has up and down, but they are stil not that great (they lost to Kent St. last week).  I feel the Orange at home.

I had Fresno lay the points at Washington last week and lose. Should I do it again?  I am just not convinced that the Huskies are that good.  The Bruins can disappoint, but I am going with the talent here.
