The Packers eeked out the NFC North last year, but they appear to be on the decline. The Vikings are the fashionable pick, while some smart minds like the Lions. I still think this a boring division, but it will be better. Pro Football Weekly breaks down the NFC North.
Here are the Vegas pre-season win total lines for the NFC North:
Vikings 9.5 -115
Jets 8.5 -105
Packers 8 -105
Bears 7 -110
Vikings
The names are there on defense with the additions of Fred Smoot, Sam Cowart, and Pat Williams, but will the chemistry gel on this re-tooled unit. Can Nate Burleson fill the large shoes of Randy Moss? I personally think Mike Tice is a bozo, but the Vikings will be the best team in the division. Tmoney says 11-5.
Lions
I think the Lions will break through this year and surpass the Packers. There are no excuses on offense and enough young talent on defense to make a difference this year. Tmoney says 9-7.
Bears
The defense will be solid with the return of Mike Brown and Urlacher. The real questions are on offense which is reliant on several young players, not the least of which is Grossman, and I am still not sure they can score consistently. I see a team that grinds out each game and could be solid if they can find a way to win at the end...or lose at the end. Tmoney says 6-10.
Packers
This team is getting old and not replenishing the talent. They lost Wahle and Rivera on the O-line and there are no real stars on defense. As much as you have to admire Favre as a winner, he makes too many bad decisions to keep this team in it. Tmoney says 6-10.
